Current Situation And Development Trend Of Radar Chips

At present, GaAs (gallium arsenide) technology in radar chips has been eliminated, and SiGe (silicon germanium) is mainly used in LRR chipsets. The transition from SiGe to CMOS started with NXP's Dolphin chipset for backward radar in 2015. CMOS technology further integrates radar functions onto a single chip, enabling mass production and reducing costs.



The transition to CMOS technology has enabled the integration of mixed-signal and RF functions onto a single AFE (analog front end) chip, and further integration of power amplifier functions onto an MMIC (monolithic microwave integrated circuit).
